I was waiting in my car for my wife Sarah to run into Old Navy. While parked, our daughter started freaking out in her car seat, so I began driving around in circles in this parking lot a few stores down, when I came upon this. I have no idea what was going on, but this horse and buggy were “parked” outside of a closed Circuit City, empty parking lot and all. How ironic is that?

One of the great pleasures of my life is being able to photograph my family. This is obviously a very personal photograph, taken during a late night session with our 7-week old daughter Finlee. Usually when such moments happen the camera is at the other side of the house, but this once it happened to be on the kitchen counter, and I’m so glad it was. This is what photography is about.

Last night we decided to stop putting off the inevitable and go grocery shopping. Since the birth of our now 7 week old daughter, Finlee, we’ve of course been to the store several times, but have been opting to keep her in safer quarters as long as possible.
Well, I’m sad to say that she’s growing up!
Everything went well (except for the bill of course), and we made it home without incident. It was surprising though how many concerned shoppers whispered to Sarah that some weirdo was following her with a camera… You’ve gotta watch out for those photographers!

Does anybody else past the age of 20 and that has actual responsibilities kind of miss this stage of life???

I’m done with work for now… ttyl.

I went down to Lancaster proper this past Saturday evening and engaged in a bit o street shooting. I’ve always been intimidated approaching people for street (and thus candid) portraits… complete strangers who often look at you like you’re the dumbest person alive.
While in Mexico I worked really hard to overcome this fear, and made what I felt were about 50 or so successful street portraits. They weren’t necessarily the best (I know they weren’t), but it required direct interaction with a stranger… I of course couldn’t speak spanish very well, so I’m sure I got made fun of quite a bit, but if I base it at all on my experience this past Saturday, it must have been okay.
I heard some interesting stories, much in the way of opinion, and heard some pretty good jokes. It turns out people aren’t so bad after all! Who in the world would have guessed?
