Rain Rain Rain! In the past 2 years, I’ve had only a couple of experiences where it rained on a wedding day, and even then it was only intermittent. On Julie and Scott’s wedding day this past weekend, it poured! When I arrived at about 2pm, we had about 20 minutes of clear skies, and then the clouds opened up. Fortunately, in a break with tradition, and in what turned out to be a fantastic decision, Julie and Scott had decided that they wanted to get their portraits done BEFORE the ceremony.

We found ourselves back down in southeastern Virginia this past weekend, there to shoot the wedding of Joan and Chris. Things started off with a bang at the College of William and Mary, in Williamsburg, and then ended up at Fords Colony Country Club. Joan and Chris were a blast to work with. Usually at weddings, we’re given around 20-30 minutes at most to take the couples portraits. This time we had over an hour. We wandered all over campus, pausing to listen to a Foo Fighter’s concert (which turned out be, much to our chagrin, NOT from the real band!)

Last Fall Sarah and I travelled to Shepherdstown, WV to shoot Joel and Ashley’s engagement photos. We had such a great time with them then that we’ve been looking forward to shooting their wedding all year. They were married this past Saturday on a perfect fall day. Congratulations to them both, and all the best to them on their honeymoon in Italy!!!
